About Us

Little Sandbox opened in June 2004 to provide children with play-based, intentional education, and to share its passion for the wonder and magic of early childhood with families.

Little Sandbox believes young children have the right to play and to be collaborators in their learning.

VISION

Little Sandbox’s vision is to develop a future generation of world changers who are compassionate, resilient, excellent, creative, and resourceful.

MISSION

Little Sandbox is committed to providing an environment where children love to learn, which will be the foundation that will equip them to be part of building our nation. Little Sandbox not only teaches students academic skills, but also helps shape their character so that they can become good, productive citizens.

PHILOSOPHY

Little Sandbox believes that young children learn through play. Innately curious, they make meaningful discoveries through exploration and experience.

The primary goal of the Little Sandbox curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. Children are encouraged to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to think on their own, and to try out their ideas. Little Sandbox assists and encourages each child’s abilities and skills throughout every stage of their development. The environment is hands-on, educational and of course, fun!

To achieve this, Little Sandbox employs the Progressive Philosophy, where the focus is on the child’s progress and individuality. The activities grow out of the child’s interest and needs.

CURRICULUM

The Little Sandbox curriculum builds upon what the children are interested in, their needs, and what they already know and are able to do, to strengthen their learning and nurture their acquisition of new concepts and skills. The curriculum is relevant and integrated across all subject matter – Math, Science, Literacy, Social Studies, Music and Movement, and Art – to help children make meaningful connections and provide opportunities for rich conceptual development.

The Little Sandbox curriculum addresses all areas of the child’s development:

Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends and feel they are part of a group.

Emotional: To help children gain self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life.

Cognitive and Language: To help children become confident learners by helping them acquire skills such as the ability to ask questions, solve problems, and use words to describe their ideas, observations and feelings.

Physical: To help children increase their small and large muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.

Shaping tomorrow’s

world changers.
